Foxton Beach/Manawatu Estuary, North Island, New Zealand

Location Name: Foxton beach/Manawatu Estuary
Main City: 30 mins from Palmerston North, 1 1/2 Hour from Wellington.
Best winds: October to February
Wind Conditions: Predominant NW in Spring/Summer
SW in Summer/Autumn . 15-35knots
Water type: Flat water in Estuary, 1-3m Waves on beach
Water Temp: Winter suit form April to October, Springy from October to March.
Nightlife: Simply Balmy Beach Cafe. Licensed & great Food
Local Tip ;) Great for all forms of Kiting. Bring your sunscreen & shades

Describe this location: 22km of Hardpacked beach, 80-100m wide at Low Tide. Excellent for Landboarding & buggying. 2km2 of Epic Sand dunes , great for Kite Buggying with Bigfoot Tyres. Thge Largest flatwater estuary in the Lower North Island of New Zealand plus 1-3m waves on the beach.
Excellent for all levels & Kitesports.
Also Perfect for SUP in the Manawatu Estuary & in surf if theres no wind
What do you like best about it?:
Its quiet in the winter and not super busy in the Summer. Always plenty of room to kite & no restrictions or red tape to bother with. Jus be sensible & its all yours.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding rentals at beach, Wakeboard winch rental, Epic Fishing both off the beach & off boats

Other comments: No Kite trip to New Zealand is complete without a trip to Foxton Beach. The wind & location are epic & its just 6km off State Highway One running the length of New Zealand. Its beautiful, not crowded and very affordable. Excellent for families & individuals alike.
