Kiteboarding-Oman, Masirah Island and Sawadi Beach , Sultanate of Oman

by Alexander Friesl
(Muscat, Oman)

As VDWS certificated Kite centre, our competences are Kiteboarding lessons for beginners and advanced riders. In addition we offer kite rental and Kite repair and you will get a professional and fair advice in our shop if you want to buy your own equipment.
Accommodation is available directly on the spot in both locations.
Our Centre in Sawadi is an access point near “ Muscat ” – Oman ’s capital. Here we offer beginners lessons and have nice conditions therefore around the year.

Our second centre on Maisrah Island is definitely a must for a kiteboarding holiday.
The Island has one of the most fantastic conditions in the world.
Being situated in the Indian Ocean, there are ideal conditions for the kite boarding sport especially in summer as it is influenced by the monsoon. Between May and September , the strength of wind is over 20 knots as a rule which keeps temperatures under 33° C even if other parts of Oman report temperatures of up to 40° C or more.
Radical waves on the east side and huge shallow / flat water bays on the west side offer everything you need.

On Masirah we have a camp accommodation in style of a Bedouin camp direct on the spot.
Our Kitecamp is located next to the village “Sur Masirah”.
This means we are located directly on the training spot and here you find the closest possible accommodation to the different spots on the island.
In case there is really no wind, enjoy the unique spirit of nearly 120 km untouched beaches.
Undisturbed by human influence, this island became one of the last sanctuaries of nature, especially for certain animals. One finds flamingos in their natural environment, and there is also the world’s second-largest breeding ground for sea turtles. If you want we will guide you and give you an unforgettable experience, by watching nesting turtles.
Low wind days we cover with excellent light wind equipment or kite buggies.
