With its fantastic wind stats (over 280 days of wind above a force 4 a year), and some of the flattest water you could ever imagine, the kitesurf accommodation lessons in Egypt are incredible. Combine that with warm turquoise water and lots of space for everyone, and it truly is a great kitesurfing spot.

Dahab is a great all year round destination (the Winter months still average 20-25 degrees!).
Best winds: March to November.
Wind Conditions: consistent 15-25 knots.
Water Temp: 24-28 C in the Summer shorts/bikini, shorty wetsuit October to May.
Water Type: Mainly flat water. Wind blown chop at Centre 4. Swell further out to sea (past Napoleon reef).
Weather: 20-38 degrees all year. Don’t be afraid of the heat in July and August (it is extremely dry here and windy so does not feel humid and sticky like tropical destinations).
Nightlife: Lovely local and international restaurants, chilled cafes and a few dance bars.
Local Tip: Have small change handy for tips – its not expected but appreciated. US$ are widely accepted and have the best exchange rate here. ATM’s and money exchange machines readily available.

The Lagoon Villa is a peaceful retreat in a great location. Only a 3 minute walk to the sandy beach and main windsurfing and kitesurfing lagoon where the complimentary shuttle boat runs to Centre 4. Complimentary sun loungers and a large outdoor Jacuzzi are perfect for relaxation. The owners Toby and Fi (UK) live next door and offer local advice and information.

The Lagoon Villa has two separate stylish self catering apartments with a maximum occupancy of seven.

The price includes all bedding and towels and a complementary starter pack (including tea, coffee, water, milk, OJ, bread, eggs, jam, butter and washing up liquid).
Sheets and towels are provided and changed weekly. Additional cleaning can be arranged.
If you do not wish to cook you can dine at any of the hotels on the beach (only $6 for a 5 star breakfast, lunch from $3). Take away is also available and can be delivered to the door. The local restaurants are lovely and there is a huge choice to suit all tastes – Steak, Fish, Thai, Indian, Chinese, Italian also great vegetarian food (3kms away).

This bright and airy studio apartment sleeps 2-3 people comfortably. Beautiful terrace overlooking the lush grassy garden and outdoor Jacuzzi pool.

This spacious, modern two bedroom apartment sleeps four people comfortably. Private sunny terrace with outdoor patio furniture. Secluded grassy garden.
Bedrooms; The master bedroom has a large king size bed (160cm) plus there is a separate twin bedroom.
Kitchen; Separate kitchen with fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, cooking utensils and two hobs. The kitchen and terrace are reached via the master bedroom.

Kitesurfing Lessons

There are two main kite locations in Dahab. The first is a shallow, really flat-water lagoon which is perfect for beginners as the instructor can stand right next to you. It is also good for intermediates and advanced riders to practise their skills in the mirror flat water.

Or the new kite area (Centre 4) has constant cross shore winds and plenty of water space for all levels of kitesurfers (beginner courses are also run here). There is a sandy beach to land on downwind too, which also catches the beginners!

The kitesurfing beginner course is €290 Euros ($389 approx). This price includes all equipment, insurance for the equipment and 10 hours of instruction – 2 hours per day). Helmets with walkie talkie radios are used so you can always hear your instructor. The first lesson covers safety and flying the land based kites to practise kite control. The second lesson is body-dragging through the water, then its time to try to get onto the board (lesson 3). Lesson 4 and 5 are based on the waterstart and riding. Multi lingual instructors available but English is mainly spoken.

You can kite in the main windsurf lagoon before 9am. So you can start in the kite lagoon and kite out and round behind the sand spit for the most constant flat water. If you wish you can venture past the reef into the swell (that rolls down the Gulf of Aqaba). Then after 9am you can head downwind to Centre 4. A superb down wind trip. If you are unsure of where to go, downwind trips can be organised through the kite centre.

Other activities:
Some of the best diving and snorkelling in the World can be found in Dahab and Ras Mohamed National Park in Sharm. Other activities include horseriding, quad biking, mountain biking, glass bottom boat trips. Or ride a camel into the desert and enjoy a relaxing dinner under the stars. Sheltered sunloungers mean you wouldn’t even realise its blowing 20 knots (no sand blasting either). Swimming pools, kids clubs, and gyms are all on offer. If you fancy venturing further a field there are lots of cultural trips for example Luxor, Petra, St Catherine’s Monastery, hike up Moses Mtn to watch the sunrise, or visit Cairo.

The Location

Dahab is located on the East side of the Red sea coast of the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt. The main airport is Sharm El Sheikh (to the South), but some airlines also fly to Taba (to the North). Both airports are a one hour drive to Dahab. Egypr kitesurfing dahab centre

Getting Here

Getting to Egypt has become easier and cheaper due to many low cost airlines and more competition especially from the UK. Often it is cheaper to fly via the UK. You can fly to Sharm El Sheikh from Gatwick, Luton, Heathrow, Stanstead, Manchester, East Midlands, Doncaster, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. Flights are around 5 hours. You can also fly to Taba with Thomson which is one hours drive to the North of Dahab.

The cheapest flights are usually found with Easyjet , Monarch and Thomson from the UK.
